Navigation and organization
This part of the guides covers the screens and tools you use in every module: the dashboard that opens when you sign in, the ways to find a record, the links between records, and what happens when you archive or delete something.
What you will find here
- Overview and dashboard: the screen that opens when you sign in, with your projects, their financial progress, and the work that is late or coming up.
- Tags and search: label records with tags, and find any record by its name or text.
- Linked objects: connect related records, such as a lab report and the task that requested it, so you can move from one to the other.
- Archive and delete: put records you no longer work on out of the way, or remove them.
- Trash: restore a record you deleted, before the trash empties.
How it fits together
The dashboard gives you the overall picture, and the left panel narrows every screen to the client, project, or other member you select. Tags, search, and links help you reach a specific record from wherever you are. Archiving and the trash keep your lists to the work that is current.
Two other entries under "Start here" complete the picture: Customize your views to set up these screens your way, and Dimensions for how the left panel organizes your work.
Example: finding a monitoring report
A project manager opens EVX Software and sees on the dashboard that a groundwater monitoring project is behind on its tasks. She selects the project in the left panel, searches for the well number, and opens the task for the latest sampling round. The lab report is linked to the task, so she opens it from there. Last year's draft of the same report is archived, so it no longer appears in the list.
What you can do next
- Overview and dashboard to read the state of your firm and your projects.
- Customize your views to choose the columns, widgets, and panels you see.
- Dimensions to filter your work by client, project, and the other members of the left panel.
