Administration
This part of the guides is for administrators. It covers the settings that shape EVX Software for everyone at your firm: which modules are on, who signs in and what they can see, how EVX Software behaves, and the rates and categories your projects bill from. Your name is at the top right of every screen, and administrators reach these settings from there.

What you will find here
- Initial setup: the steps to set up EVX Software for your firm, in order, starting with the Quick Start.
- Users and permissions: the people who sign in, their roles, and what each of them can see and change.
- Configuration: the settings that apply to your whole firm, such as default preferences, notifications, custom properties, templates, and approvals.
- Financial configuration: rate schedules, expense categories, product types, taxes, and invoice templates.
How it fits together
Administrators usually work through these parts in order. The modules and the first users come first, because they decide what everyone else sees. The firm-wide configuration comes next, so that forms, templates, and approvals are ready before the team starts. The financial configuration has to be in place before the first time entry is valued and the first invoice goes out.
The settings here apply to everyone. Each user then adjusts their own view, as described in Customize your views.
Example: getting ready for the first projects
An environmental consulting firm moves its project work to EVX Software. The administrator turns on the modules the firm uses and adds the project managers and field staff with their roles. She adds a custom property for the permit number on every project and sets up time approval before billing. Last, she creates the firm's standard rate schedule and its invoice template, so the first projects are ready to record time and bill.
