API
The EVX Software API lets your firm connect EVX Software to the other systems it uses, so information moves between them without being typed twice. This section explains what the API can do for your firm and how an administrator gives an integration access.
The technical reference, with authentication, every endpoint, and code samples, is at developers.evxsoftware.com.
This version of the API is available from EVX Software version 4.3.

Who this section is for
This section is for your firm's administrator and for the people who decide which systems to connect. It covers what the API reaches, how access is granted and revoked, and what to ask your IT team or developer for. Developers and IT teams start from the technical reference linked at the top of this page.
What the API lets your firm do
An integration connected through the API can read and update the same records your team works with in EVX Software: projects, clients, tasks, time entries, expenses, forms, notes, and documents, including the custom fields your firm has added. For example, it can:
- Send hours recorded in a field app to the right project and task.
- Create projects and tasks from another system your firm already uses.
- Copy project, time, and expense data into your firm's own reports.
- Store documents produced elsewhere with the project they belong to.
What the API covers lists the records in detail.
How access works
Each integration has its own credentials, issued by EVX Software support for your installation. An administrator at your firm then grants the integration access and chooses the user it acts as. The integration can see and do exactly what that user can, and nothing more. Revoking its access stops it immediately.
Example: field hours without retyping
A firm's field team records hours on tablets in a separate field data app. Its administrator requests API credentials from EVX Software support, creates a user named for the integration with permission to record time on field projects, and grants the integration access as that user. From then on, the app sends each day's hours to the matching project and task in EVX Software, where they appear in the weekly view and feed the project budget like any other time entry.
