Clients and contacts
This part of the guides covers the organizations your firm works for and the people and companies you deal with: client teams, regulators, laboratories, vendors, sub-consultants, and your own staff.
What you will find here
- Clients: the organizations you work for, such as agencies, developers, and facility operators. Projects, invoices, documents, and reports are organized under them.
- Contacts: the people and companies related to your clients and projects, including vendors and sub-consultants.
- Users vs. contacts: the difference between the people who sign in to EVX Software and the people you only keep details for.
How it fits together
A client is also a dimension: it appears in the left panel, and selecting it narrows every screen to that client's projects, time, expenses, and invoices. Contacts hold the people behind the work, such as the client's project manager or the laboratory that runs your samples. A user is a person who signs in to EVX Software, and a contact is a person you keep details for. The same person can be both.
Example: a new client for a site assessment
A municipality asks your firm for a Phase I environmental site assessment of a former industrial lot. You create the municipality as a client, then add its project officer and the property owner as contacts. When the project is created under the client, its time entries, expenses, and invoices are grouped under the municipality, and the contacts are at hand for every call and report.
What you can do next
- Clients to add a client and the information your firm records for it.
- Contacts to keep the people and companies you work with in one place.
- Dimensions for how clients and projects organize every module.
