Navigate EVX Software

This page shows the main areas of the EVX Software screen and how they work together. Try each one as you read.

The top bar, the module tabs, and the left panel stay in place wherever you work.

The top bar

The top bar stays in place wherever you work.

  • Home: returns you to your starting view. When you select a project or client, its name appears next to Home.
  • Search: finds records across EVX Software.
  • Your name: opens your user menu, with Settings, Account, Help, and Logout.

Module tabs

Each tab below the top bar opens one type of record.

Each tab opens one type of record, and the tabs you see depend on your role.

TabWhat you find there
OverviewYour dashboard
TasksThe work planned on each project
TimeHours recorded against projects and tasks
ExpensesCosts recorded against projects
DocumentsFiles and notes
InvoicesInvoices sent to clients and their payment status
CalendarEvents and dates
ContactsPeople and companies you work with
ReportingReports across your projects
note

The tabs you see depend on the permissions your firm gives your role. For example, some firms show Invoices only to project managers and billing staff.

Some pages, such as Settings and Account, open as extra tabs to the right. To close one, click the small x on the tab.

Overview

Overview is your dashboard. It opens when you sign in and shows widgets such as Projects, Invoice payment status, and Tasks status. The widgets and columns you see depend on your role.

When you select a project, Overview shows that project: its main data, billing information, invoices, and task status.

See Overview module and dashboard for what each widget shows.

The left panel

The left panel lists the ways your firm organizes its work, such as Projects and Clients. Each section has a Filters field to find an item quickly.

Click any item in the left panel to filter every tab by it.

Selecting an item in the left panel filters every tab. Try it:

  1. Click a project in the Projects section.
  2. The project's name appears next to Home, and Overview shows that project. The other sections narrow to match. For example, Clients shows only that project's client.
  3. Click Tasks or Time. Each tab now shows only the records for that project.
  4. Click Home to clear the selection.

Click Home at any time to clear the filter.

The bottom of the panel has three more options:

  • View more: choose which sections appear in the panel. Your administrator sets the order of the sections.
  • Trash: records that were deleted.
  • Archived: records that were archived.

To give the main area more room, click the arrow at the top of the panel to collapse it. Click it again to bring the panel back.

Where daily work happens

Most of your day happens in Tasks and Time. Tasks shows the work assigned on your projects, and Time is where you record your hours. Use the filters at the top of each tab to change which records you see, for example only the tasks assigned to you.

See Assigning and completing tasks and Tracking time in tasks.

The Getting Started tutorials Manage your first task and Record your first time entry walk you through both.

What you can do next

  1. Understand the core concepts to see how projects, clients, tasks, and time fit together.
  2. Navigation, dimensions, and filters for more ways to filter your work.
  3. Next steps by role to find the pages that match your job.
